Building a Sustainable Future with UW Badger Volunteers
WEI and UW Badger Volunteers share a long-standing commitment to community service and environmental leadership. Each year, we host teams of UW-Madison students who gain hands-on experience in sustainability while making a tangible impact.
As Main Street Green Program Coordinators and volunteers, students:
- Engage businesses in sustainable practices through the Main Street Green program.
- Manage Zero Waste Stations to reduce landfill waste and promote responsible disposal.
- Participate in green street and green infrastructure projects that enhance urban sustainability.
- Support Clean Clear Waters initiatives by implementing best practices for stormwater management.
- Assist with Green Built Home site visits, ensuring high-performance, eco-friendly housing.
- Contribute to sustainable development at Garver Feed Mill and in food entrepreneurship projects.
- Gain hands-on experience in tiny home construction, exploring innovative housing solutions.
This collaborative partnership empowers students with real-world skills while advancing systemic change in local businesses, housing, and environmental initiatives. By fostering adaptability, resilience, and long-term impact, WEI and Badger Volunteers are shaping the next generation of sustainability leaders.
