Steps to Achieve Green Built Certification

  1. Register Your Project
    Contact Wisconsin Green Built Home to register your project and obtain the Green Built Home Multi-Family Checklist requirements.
  2. Complete the Green Built Home Checklist
    • Score your project using the Multi-Family Checklist to align with Green Built standards.
    • Plan your project to exceed minimum point thresholds for maximum WHEDA scoring benefits.
  3. Engage a Certified Verifier
    Hire a Green Built Home certified third-party verifier to:
    • Review your completed checklist, project plans, and other submittals.
    • Conduct a minimum of two site visits.
    • Document compliance with Green Built Home requirements.
  4. Submit Certification Fees
    Pay the Green Built Home certification fee to WEI: $75 per unit for WHEDA LIHTC projects. Note: Verification costs are separate and negotiated directly with your verifier.
  5. Verification and Certification
    • Your verifier will document the project’s compliance and determine the final checklist point total.
    • WEI will review the verifier’s work and issue the Green Built Home certification, including the final point total.

Click on the GBH Registration form (active PDF), fill it out and send to Green Built Home c/o WEI. Or, contact Wisconsin Green Built Home to register your project and obtain a copy of the Green Built Checklist requirements.

Once registered, fill out the Green Built Home Multi-Family Checklist*, scoring your project on the program. Hire a Green Built Home certified third-party verifier to review completed Checklists, plans and other submittals, conduct site visits and document that all requirements are met for Wisconsin Green Built Home certification.
